The Port St. Lucie Community Band presents “Music for Everyone” at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center on Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m.

Under the direction of Stephen and Kathryn Torick, this spring concert will include such musical numbers as Leroy Anderson’s famous “Clarinet Candy”, Gioacchino Rossini’s “Italian in Algiers”, and George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess”.  The “Gay Nineties Medley”, which includes “Bicycle Built for Two”, “In the Good Old Summertime”, “Little Annie Rooney”, and “The Band Played On”, will bring back memories for many in the audience.

The concert will conclude with one of America’s favorite musical selections, the Armed Forces Salute, honoring our veterans and those currently serving in the military.

One of the highlights of the program will be the presentation of the band’s annual Bob Cruz and John Nickerson Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship is given to a local student who is pursuing music as a possible career. This year’s recipient will be Walter Ostarly, a member of the Port St. Lucie Community Band for the past two years and a student at Lincoln Park Academy.

Tickets are required and are available for $5 in advance and $6 at the door.  Tickets may be purchased at the Civic Center and the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 S.E. Airoso Blvd (cash only, please).

For information on the PSL Community Band, call (772) 871-2863.
