The Fort Pierce Branch Library announces its “Friday Matinee” lineup for March. Held every Friday, the library presents a free film, starting at 2 p.m.
* March 4 - “Gorillas in the Mist” (1989) featuring Sigourney Weaver. The story of Dian Fossey, a scientist who came to Africa to study the vanishing mountain gorillas, and later fought to protect them. Running time: 129 minutes; rated PG-13.
* March 11 - “The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom” (1968) featuring Shirley MacLaine. Harriet Blossom, the lonely wife of a workaholic, garment industry manufacturer, breaks her sewing machine and ends up in a relationship with the repairman. Running time: 93 minutes, not rated.
* March 18 - “A League of Their Own” (1992) featuring Tom Hanks and Madonna. Two sisters join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amidst their own growing rivalry. Running time: 127 minutes; rated PG.
* March 25 - “Firewall” (2006) featuring Harrison Ford. A security specialist is forced into robbing the bank that he’s protecting, as a bid to pay off his family’s ransom. Running time: 103 minutes, PG-13.
Anyone 13 or younger, who would like to attend a film rated PG-13, must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Permission slips will be available at the library’s front desk on the first floor, starting Tuesday, March 1.
